We get a lot of compliments about our plantains, and today during Brunch, a guest was asking our waiter about them, and it came up that when she tried cooking hers didn’t turn out so well. She was using green plantains (unripe) and after cutting, fried them, smashed them, and fried again (also known as tostones sp?). Then the debate ensued about whether they would be considered a fruit or vegetable. I was referenced…
As I explained, anything that ripens, is considered a fruit, liek a tomatoe for example. You pick it off the vine, it ripens, and is eaten. Plantains are fruits, avocado, tomatoe, etc..

Just thought I’d post up about it, simple topic but maybe helps someone. Also, as I let them know, we’ll be offering cooking classes in March, and hopefully every month after. There is limited availability, and the classes will be a combination of display, audience involvement,and a late lunch/dinner/tasting. Wine will be optional, and each class will be priced individually based on topic.
